Green to desert — a trek from Kinnaur to Spiti that showcases the transition from lush green forests to arid alpine desert across the Bhaba Pass. Moderate to challenging, with a long summit day, and a finish along the Pin River into Mudh village.

Best season: Summer, when shepherds graze their livestock.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kafnu to Mulling

    Gradual ascent through pine forests.

  2. Day 2

    Mulling to Karah

    Meadows and river crossings.

  3. Day 3

    Karah to Fustirang

    Stream crossings and steep slopes.

  4. Day 4

    Fustirang to Mangrungse

    Summit day — switchbacks and the Bhaba Pass crossing. A challenging and long day.

  5. Day 5

    Mangrungse to Mudh

    Descend along the Pin River to Mudh village.
